Closed Door Discussions On Nowra Motor Race Complex
Motor Cycling New South Wales is set to begin tightly controlled closed door discussions with some residents who may be effected by the proposed $15 million multi purpose motor racing complex on the outskirts of Nowra. Designed for both cars and bikes the track would be developed at Yerriong near HMAS Albatross. Some residents living close to the site have been invited to a Question and Answer session at the Nowra Turf Club tomorrow night ( Wed 22/5 ) at 7.30. Church Passes Plate Raises Amazing $164,000
A Shoalhaven Church has raised a staggering $164,000 after passing the plate for a Sunday collection. Every year the Nowra City Church in North Nowra runs an ' Imagine ' collection to raise funds for projects to help those less fortunate at both home and abroad. The collection has been run for the last 12 years, during which time a total of $2.2 million has been raised. Projects earmarked for funding this year include ending the child sex trade in Cambodia and Nepal, construction of amenities blocks at a slum in Kathmandu, and setting up micro enterprises in Vietnam. Ratepayers Take $70,000 Hit In Sports Field Failure
A Shoalhaven Councillor has demanded a complete think on the city's engineering standards after revelations a new soccer field will have to be re-built, at a cost of $70,000, because for much of the time the ground resembles an inland lake. The field has been built at St Georges Basin, but after rain the water is unable to get away and the ground is unusable. Councillors have recommended the turf be torn up, the area top dressed and the grass re-laid. They also want consideration to the installation of sub soil drainage.
