Shares Rally After Last Weeks Disaster |

Australian shares rallied today on speculation China and Europe will do more to bolster economic growth. The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index rose 47.4 points, or 1.2 per cent, to 4121, while the broader All Ords gained 49.1 points, or 1.2 per cent, to 4173.5. Among the major sectors, energy jumped 1.8 per cent, materials rose 1.2 per cent and financial gained 0.8 per cent. Here's how some of the biggest movers today

Back To Basics At School
Over the weekend I spoke to a few teachers who said that teaching basics like maths is being sidelined by too many other issues. For example, one teacher claimed he was expected to be a pseudo parent, psychologist and counsellor as well as trying to actually teach! While another said that time devoted to new subjects like environmentalism and indigenous history left too few hours in the week to teach the basics like grammar and mathematics.
