Davy Jones from the Monkees dead at 66

Monkees frontman and 60’s icon Davy Jones has died of a major heart attack, aged 66.

The news has come from US website TMZ. It claims the lead singer died in Florida overnight.

Jones lead the Monkees along with Mike Nesmith from 1966 to 1968, with hit songs Daydream Believer, I’m a Believer, Last Train to Clarkesville and theme to the Monkees.

In February 2011, Jones mentioned rumours of another Monkees reunion. "There's even talk of putting the Monkees back together again in the next year or so for a U.S. and UK tour," he told Disney's Backstage Pass newsletter. "You're always hearing all those great songs on the radio, in commercials, movies, almost everywhere."[3] The tour came to fruition entitled, "An Evening with The Monkees: The 45th Anniversary Tour’

Davy Jones was also well-known from his solo hit ‘Girl’ which was helped by the TV show ‘The Brady Bunch’. He was also included in the 1998 movie ‘The Brady Bunch’.

Jones is survived by his wife Jessica and four daughters from previous marriages.
