I didn’t know that was you. Awkward moments with people you can’t stand

Monday, 05 March 2012 10:15

typing It was late at night. I shouldn’t have been on the computer, I should’ve gone to bed. I hadn’t slept for 22 hours and worst still, I was angry.

Not the best defence your honour.

It was months ago when I wrote to a colleague about my thoughts on someone. No names, no pack drill but when you’re annoyed, tired and a bit stressed you then to exaggerate how bad things are. And that’s precisely what I did. How much I thought they were hopeless, incompetent, idiotic and I also believed they were not really a person I preferred to associate with.

I read back the email and satisfied with my comments, I typed in the address. Of the person I was writing about. Then hit SEND.

Yep, great move. I tried to stop it, shutting down the computer, pulling out the phone line and even ringing Bigpond support to see if they could ‘be a darl and fetch an email for me’.

An agonising 24 hours passed, waiting on a phone call of abuse from said person. Then the most relieving message of all.

Undeliverable. Person no longer at address. Thank you Lord.

Let this be a lesson. Delete the person from your contacts before proceeding with email….

Have you ever let someone you know what you thought of them accidentally?

How much you earn on average, the kids and more Let’s take my suburb… There’s more women than men and it’s a young... Read more
