Around 50 students from Bowral High, Moss Vale High, Chevalier College and Mulwaree High attended the inaugural Nursing Taster Day organised by the University of Wollongong in Moss Vale.
The group were shown a number of practical skills such as taking blood pressure, checking vital signs, sanitation and bed-side care.
Southern Highlands campus manager Stephen Lowe said they’re trying to address a shortage of health care workers.
“It’s a nationwide issue and it’s particularly the case in the Southern Highlands,
“That’s why we think it’s really important to introduce school students to the possibilities, so they get excited about working in health care from an early age,”Mr. Lowe said.
