The NSW Office of Local Government has made comment after the outcry by residents over the way Shoalhaven Council meetings are being handled.
A spokesperson said, “Council meetings should be run with decorum so issues that matter to communities can be debated in a free, fair and respectful way by elected officials.”
The spokesperson added, “It’s also important the community is able to respectfully observe those meetings, but they should not interrupt a meeting or create disorder.”

The statement said Councils are entitled to take steps to ensure this does not occur.
