Disposing Soft Plastics Plan

January 9, 2025 9:18 am in by

Kiama Council is hosting another soft plastics drop off event on Wednesday 12 February at our Minnamurra Waste and Recycling Facility.

This is a trial service developed by Kiama, Shoalhaven, Shellharbour and Wollongong through the Illawarra Shoalhaven Joint Organisation (ISJO).

It follows the end of the REDcycle soft plastics drop-off scheme.

Soft plastics are flexible materials that can be easily scrunched into a ball.

Here are the types of soft plastics you can drop off:

  • Plastic bags: clear and coloured
  • Biscuit and snack wrappers
  • Chip packets and other silver-lined snack wrappers
  • Fresh and frozen food wrappers/bags
  • Pasta bags, rice bags (both plastic and woven types), bread bags, and cereal liners
  • Cling wrap, bubble wrap, and snap lock zip bags
  • Document sleeves, mail satchels, and carrier bags
  • Plastic pet food bags

Ensure your plastics are clean, empty, and dry before dropping them off.
