A man has been charged following pursuits with a stolen car across Sydney’s south.
Yesterday (Monday 20 January 2025), officers attached to The Hume Police District commenced an investigation after a vehicle was allegedly stolen from a Bowral home.
About 7pm the same day, police located and attempted to stop the vehicle travelling on the Hume Highway, at St Andrews.
When the vehicle failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated, however; it was terminated a short time later on Picton Road, Cordeaux, due to safety concerns.
About 8pm, officers attached to St George Highway Patrol located the vehicle traveling north on the Princes Motorway, at Madden Plains.
When the vehicle failed to stop, a second pursuit was initiated.
At the intersection of Port Hacking Road, Sylvania, the vehicle crashed into a street sign and the driver, a 44-year-old man was arrested.
During a search of the vehicle, police allegedly located and seized cannabis, a number of axes and knives.
He was taken to Sutherland Hospital for mandatory testing.
Upon release, he was taken to Sutherland Police Station where he was charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, possess prohibited drug, custody of knife in public place, and contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (Domestic).
He was refused bail to appear before Sutherland Local Court today.
