Walk for Epilepsy 2024

The Epilepsy Foundation is excited to announce that registrations are now open for Walk for Epilepsy 2024, an inspiring community event dedicated to raising awareness and funds for epilepsy research and support.

Participants can register online and set personalised fitness and fundraising goals, whether you choose to tackle them solo or as part of a team.  You can walk anywhere, at any time.

This year’s theme, “Connect and Strive for 1 in 25,” highlights the crucial goal of connecting people with epilepsy and striving for a world where one in 25 can lead fulfilling lives free from the constraints of seizures.

As part of this year’s event, Epilepsy Australia is honoured to welcome back former AFL star Heath Hocking, who will this year be taking on an extraordinary challenge. Heath, a former Essendon AFL player and devoted father of a son with epilepsy, will be walking and running a total of 250 kilometres on a treadmill. This ambitious endeavour will begin on 1 October at the Treadmill Challenge in Victoria and continue non-stop until he achieves his goal.

Heath’s commitment to this cause is both personal and powerful, as he uses his platform to raise awareness and inspire others. His efforts will not only spotlight the daily challenges faced by individuals with epilepsy but also drive crucial support for ongoing research and community initiatives.

People are encouraged to register online to take part in Walk for Epilepsy 2024. By registering, individuals not only support a worthy cause but also contribute to a greater understanding and better resources for those affected by epilepsy.

About Walk for Epilepsy:

Walk for Epilepsy is a fundraising and epilepsy awareness initiative that takes place annually throughout the month of October. Run by the Epilepsy Foundation, the initiative is a national collaboration between six epilepsy state/territory service partners, working under the banner of Epilepsy Australia.  These include Epilepsy ACT, Epilepsy Tasmania, the Epilepsy Centre (SA/NT), Epilepsy Queensland and the Epilepsy Foundation.

The Epilepsy Foundation is dedicated to leading the fight to overcome the challenges of living with epilepsy and to find a cure. Our mission is to reduce the impact of epilepsy on people’s lives and ensure that no-one goes it alone.
