The latest Illawarra Business conditions survey shows businesses are struggling to keep up with the cost of energy.
39 per cent of respondents said keeping bills down should be the number one priority.
30 per cent said lowering the risk of blackouts was a top priority, while 21 per cent listed reducing emissions.
Meantime the majority of businesses want to eventually transition to a net zero future.
It comes as the NSW Government considers whether to keep the Eraring Power Station open longer.
Adam Zarth from Business Illawarra said the message is clear.
“It’s a very difficult decision for the NSW Government to make,”Mr. Zarth said.
“But obviously we’ve got very clear responses from businesses in our business conditions survey that we really need the government to keep our energy bills down.
“And to keep the lights on and reduce blackouts.”
