Construction is officially underway on the new $25 million Goulburn Police Station which will bolster police capabilities and community safety in the growing region.

This long-awaited station is being built on a new site on McDermott Drive in Goulburn, replacing the current station on Sloane Street.

It will include a command office, general duties area, charge area, spaces for police to conduct interviews and testing, storage facilities, change rooms and a dock area and new carparks.

A sod turn for the site occurred in 2021 under the former Liberal-National Government which coincided with commencement of a protracted planning process.

During the planning phase, a number of challenges were required to be addressed in the design, which has now been finalised to allow building works to commence this month.

The new station will be a central regional policing hub for the Goulburn district and will ensure local officers are supported with the resources they need to better support their community and tackle crime.

Today we are also announcing that early works have begun on a new indoor firing range at the Goulburn Police Academy.

It will have 12 x 25 metre lanes with a retractable system, a control room, observation room, weapon training area and gun cleaning room.

The range is part of a larger, $74 million upgrade to the Goulburn Police Academy which includes new technology and training facilities, ensuring recruits continue to receive world-class training.

Both the firing range and new Goulburn Police station are expected to be operational in the second half of 2026.
