The Southern Highlands Community Foundation today announced Helen Johnston, volunteer Secretary for the Bowral District and Art Society as the recipient of its September Highlands Hero award.
Highlands Heroes is an award that aims to recognise and reward volunteers in the
Southern Highlands community who work tirelessly for their chosen cause. Winners receive a $5000 grant for their organisation.
Helen has been involved with the BDAS for over twenty years and is the essence of a quiet achiever, someone whose passion, hard work and organisational skills behind the scenes is essential to the smooth running of the organisation.

“Volunteers like Helen really are the glue that hold community organisations together, devoting so much of their time to making sure their organisa6on achieves great things.
Helen is the essence of a Highlands Hero; her dedica6on and long service is incredible, and we are thrilled to announce her as the latest recipient of the award.”
Though initiatives like Highlands Heroes the SHCF aims to highlight areas of need within our community and shine a light on the causes and organisa6ons that our Highlands Heroes represent.
