Current legislation will prevent a Chris Minns elected Government from removing Wingecarribee Council from administration before the 2024 local government elections.
Shadow Minister for Local Government Greg Warren made the revelations today alongside Labor candidates for Goulburn Michael Pilbrow and Angus Braiden for Wollondilly.
But Mr. Warren said there are no guarantees the situation will change after 2024 under the current NSW government
“You cannot trust them when it comes to administration,
“They have left councils in administration, beyond the last local government elections and even one before that,
“It’s a lazy approach,”Mr. Warren said.
Meantime Labor Candidate for Goulburn Michael Pilbrow said it’s essential democracy is eventually restored.
“I hear a wide variety of views,
“But the common thread that keeps coming back to me is the desire to have local representation informing local governance,”Mr. Pilbrow said.
