Army veteran and cyber security expert Ben Britton has been endorsed as Liberal Candidate for Whitlam, vowing to give local families, households, and businesses a strong voice advocating for them.
His passion to serve Australia led Ben to serve in the 3rd Battalion Royal Australian Regiment, as an Infantry Paratrooper, including operational experience in Timor Leste. He’s currently a Chief Information Security Officer in the defence industry sector.
Over the past few years Ben has seen the impact of the cost of living crisis on the Illawarra and Southern Highlands and will work to provide better support for locals.
“Our community has been doing it really tough under Labor. Housing costs, groceries, petrol, energy and insurance are all continuing to skyrocket, leaving household budgets stretched to breaking point,” Mr Britton said.
“Illawarra and the Southern Highlands deserve better, and only a Peter Dutton Coalition government can deliver the economic leadership needed to drive down inflation, ease the cost-of-living pressures, and support businesses to create new opportunities for locals.”
Mr Britton said he would be fighting for local families that have been hit hard by rising mortgage repayments, “households are being forced to find thousands more every year just to keep their homes. For renters, the situation is equally dire, with rental increases reaching record highs.”
“One of my campaign priorities will be fighting to restore the dream of home ownership for our young people. A Coalition government will invest $5 billion into infrastructure projects to help deliver up to half a million new homes,” Mr Britton said.
“I’m also going to be a strong voice for local small business owners who feel ignored by the current government, as they struggle under the weight of rising costs, and customers who are watching every dollar in this cost of living crisis.”
“Small businesses are the major source of employment in the Illawarra and Southern Highlands, but they are being hit from all sides. They need a representative and a government that understands their challenges and supports their growth rather than adding to their burdens.”
“Only a Coalition government has the track record of delivering a strong economy that underpins investment in local roads, schools, and essential services – giving the community the support and infrastructure it needs to thrive.”
“As part of a strong Liberal team, I will work to get the Whitlam economy back on track. We’ll tackle inflation, ease financial pressures on families, and support small businesses to succeed – delivering a stronger, more prosperous future for our region – because only the Coalition have the record of delivering lower power prices, lower interest rates and lower taxes,” Mr Britton concluded.
