Highlands farmers are preparing for a dry winter after the Bureau of Meteorology released its forecast yesterday.
The region is predicted to see warmer temperatures and lower rainfall than average this winter.
Locals are also watching the El Nino predictor, which is currently forecasting a 70% chance of the weather event this year.
Daniel Brear from Farmers NSW says locals need to work on future proofing their farms.
“Farmers should make sure they’re looking forward and planning for these circumstances.”
“We are seeing trends of more extreme conditions, so when it’s dry it’s really dry, when it’s wet it’s really wet. Farmers need to be prepared for that.”
