Wingecarribee Public Libraries is transitioning to the new Civica Spydus library management system and online catalogue, slated for launch on 28 May 2024.
The implementation of this system will allow patrons to see all library collections quickly and easily in one place.
The new library catalogue will allow borrowers to easily access digital content including eBooks and Audiobooks directly from the new interface.
eResources will be displayed right alongside the print collection, eliminating the need for multiple searches to locate desired titles.
Patrons will enjoy expanded search capabilities, simplified account management for renewals, reservations and purchase suggestions, as well as personalised recommendations through ‘You Might Like’ features among other benefits.
Additionally, a user-friendly app is in development to further enhance accessibility to library resources.
Andrew White, Wingecarribee Shire Council’s, Coordinator Library Services said, “The migration to a new ILMS software and platform is an important step in the evolution of the Wingecarribee Public Library.”
“The new system will improve patron engagement through the interactive online catalogue and discovery layers and provide enhanced access to the library’s resources and collections.
Library efficiencies will also be improved through the reporting, cataloguing, digital content management, local studies and management modules” Andrew said.
Prior to the system upgrade, patrons should anticipate brief interruptions to library services.
From 21 – 27 May 2024, patrons will be unable to search the catalogue or reserve items.
However, returns will continue to be accepted during this period and will be processed following the system’s launch on 28 May.
To accommodate patrons during this transition period, all due dates will be extended to 4 June 2024, alleviating any concerns about returning items while the library operates in offline mode.
