Respected Highlands Police Officer hangs up the boots

Southern Highlands Police have farewelled Sergeant Raymond ‘Tod’ Mackinnon who’s retiring after 32 years of service.

He began at the Academy in 1991 and six months later, commenced general duties in Blacktown, before working in Cabramatta and Green Valley.

He also served in Tamworth, Bathurst, Goulburn and Mudgee, before the Southern Highlands.

Over that period Sergeant Mackinnon worked in crash investigation, police driver training, and the Traffic and Highway Patrol.

He received awards for his service during the Sydney Olympics and his efforts during emergencies and natural disasters.

Sergeant Mackinnon was also acknowledged for his dedication after saving the life of a woman at Mount Panorama.

He was given a guard of honour on his last day.
