The Archibald Prize 2024, an Art Gallery of New South Wales touring exhibition, is eagerly anticipated by artists and audiences alike.

Judged by the trustees of the Art Gallery of New South Wales, it is Australia’s most celebrated and democratic, sometimes controversial, art award.

Since 1921, it has highlighted figures from all walks of life, from famous faces to local heroes, reflecting the stories of our times.

For the first time in the region, this nationally significant exhibition will be on display at Ngununggula, the Southern Highlands’ first Regional Gallery.

The Archibald Prize 2024 at Ngununggula opens on Saturday 30 November, coinciding with the Salon des Refusés exhibition at Retford Park, a much-anticipated feature of the art scene that showcases an incredible ‘alternative’ selection of works not chosen for display in the official Archibald Prize exhibition.

Both exhibitions are expected to attract large crowds and are conveniently located within walking distance of each other.

Ngununggula’s state-of-the-art gallery is situated on the grounds of Retford Park.
