Police are appealing for help from the public after a child was runover by a utility at Nowra yesterday.
Officers from South Coast Police District have been told a 12-year-old boy was lying on McKay Street with his bicycle about 6.30pm (Monday 24 April 20223), when a vehicle travelling east drove over him and failed to stop.
Emergency services were called to the scene and rendered assistance until he was initially taken to Albion Park by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being airlifted to a Sydney hospital.
Police have been told the child has suffered serious injuries including fractures to the legs, pelvis and chest.
The Southern Crash Investigation Unit was called to the scene and are conducting the investigation.
The vehicle involved is described an older model light-coloured dual-cab utility no canopy Investigators are still waiting to speak with the boy as it’s unknown how he came to be lying on the road. Police have been told the boy was seen riding along the road a short time before he was found injured.
