A Navy MH-60-R Seahawk helicopter based out of HMAS Albatross has been involved in an incident with a Chinese fighter jet that has fueled tension between Canberra and Beijing.
The helicopter pilot was forced to take evasive action when the Chinese jet dropped flares into its path during an operation over the Yellow Sea.
PM Anthony Albanese labelled the incident as completely unacceptable and said he has raised the issue with the Chinese government.
Opposition leader Peter Dutton said the Prime Minister needs to pick up the phone and speak with the Chinsese President and express our deep concern.
The Navy Seahawk helicopter managed to avoid damage from the flare drop.
Australian Defence said the three crew members were uninjured.
