Manildra Silo collapse threatens Shoalhaven River

A NSW Fire and Rescue Hazmat team attended a major incident in Bomaderry overnight after a major silo collapse at Manildra.

Two large silos collapsed containing in excess of 300 tonnes of wheat.

Fire and Rescue NSW crews from Nowra, Moruya, Berry and Shellharbour assisted rendering the area safe.

Hazmat crews deployed into the Shoalhaven River by boat to assess any cleanup required.

A drone will be deployed to map out sections of the Shoalhaven River affected by the grain spill and floatation booms have been deployed to contain the wheat.

Fire and Rescue crews will remain on site today assisting and advising Manildra management and EPA.
