This year, the City of Sydney will launch nine tonnes of fireworks from eight floating platforms and 80 new positions along the Harbour Bridge, creating a 7km stretch of illuminated magic from Cockatoo Island to Point Piper. In addition to the fireworks, over 26,500 lights will shine across the city, with LED lights on boats and spotlights on barges lighting up the harbour. The fireworks will pay tribute to Barangaroo, an important Cammeraygal woman, with visuals on the bridge and projections of her and her warriors’ connection to the water.

Where to Watch the Fireworks

Many of the prime viewing spots are ticketed, and there are plenty of free, public areas where you can enjoy the show. Popular vantage points include Barangaroo Reserve, Darling Harbour, Blues Point, Bradfield Park, and Observatory Hill Park. These locations offer fantastic views of the fireworks, which begin at 9 pm for families, followed by the grand midnight display. With over 1,000 people working behind the scenes, including a significant increase in female participation, this year’s event promises to be a night to remember.
