Australia’s prominent R&B event, the Souled Out Music Festival, has been abruptly cancelled just over a week before its scheduled commencement. The festival was set to feature international artists such as Don Toliver, Jhené Aiko, and Vince Staples, with performances planned in Melbourne on February 22, Sydney on February 23, and Brisbane on February 28.

Organisers’ Statement

In an Instagram post, the organisers expressed their regret:

They assured that all ticket holders would receive automatic refunds through Oztix and encouraged supporters to continue backing live music across the country.

Despite earlier claims of a sold-out Brisbane show, the festival did not garner sufficient support to remain financially viable. Adding to its challenges, Souled Out Pty Ltd, the organising company, is facing a potential winding-up order from creditor EventCo Group Pty Ltd, following previous legal disputes between the two entities.

The cancellation of Souled Out adds to a series of setbacks for Australia’s live music industry. Other festivals, including Groovin the Moo and Splendour in the Grass, have also announced cancellations in recent times, citing similar financial and logistical challenges.
